FLYERS GRAB WIN AT ONU FRIDAY NIGHT SERIES

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton track & field team continued a successful season on Friday with a win at the Ohio Northern University Friday Night Series. UD recorded 234 points at King Horn Center outdistancing seven other teams. The Flyers won five events including two relays. The 4x2 relay team of Lauren McCormick, Micella Davis, Lauren O'Brien, and Briona Gresham took home gold with a finishing time of 1:48.27. The 4x4 relay team of Stacy Chew, Kate Tejkl, Lisa Aubry, and Liz Forster recorded a season best time of 4:01.72 to win the event. Sophomore Amy Kremer won the high jump (5-04.50), senior Candace McKinley captured the long jump (16-08.00) and freshman Andrea Funk grabbed the triple jump title and a season best jump with her leap of 36-02.25. In addition to winning five titles at the meet, several Flyers recorded season bests. In the 55m McCormick placed third with a time of 7.32. Fellow teammates O'Brien and Davis also recorded their fastest times of the season at 7.67 and 7.68 respectively. In the 55m hurdles event freshmen Micailah Brock (8.57) and Chantee Mathews (8.61) set season bests while sophomore Andrea Cornell (8.72) recorded a personal record. Forster (1:19.10) and Aubry (1:20.01) placed third and fourth respectively with their fastest times of the season; while underclassmen Sarah Howley improved her 800m time to 2:31.38. Freshman Molly McCarty placed second in the shotput and broke her personal record with a throw of 39-02.50 and Tara Hentgen (34-07.50) and Gresham (34-06.75) recorded their season best leaps in the triple jump. The Flyers will travel to Findlay, Ohio for the University of Findlay Track & Field Classic on Fri.-Sat. Jan. 26-27. Team Scores (through 19 events) |
