2008-2009
(CROSS COUNTRY) Ellen Nienhaus saved her best running for last, as the senior scored in seven of eight Flyer races during her final season of eligibility. She ran a personal best time of 18:45.23 at the Greater Louisville Classic, which helped UD claim sixth place amongst a tough field. Nienhaus also wrapped up the season strong by placing third on the team in each of the final two races. Her overall finish of 24th at the Atlantic 10 Championships helped the Flyers to their best team finish ever (third). To cap it all off, Nienhaus was recognized for her significant contributions during her senior season with the Coaches Award at the team's end of season banquet.
(INDOOR) Competed in the one mile run, posting a season best time of 5:17.67 at the Bowling Green State University Jane Herrmann Invitational, good for third place...Ran a tenth place time of 5:20.93 at the Akron Zips Invitational...Finished seventh at the Kent State Invitational (5:20.99). Ellen also competed in the 3,000 meter run at the Indiana Open (11:02.44).
(OUTDOOR) Posted a career best and new school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Atlantic 10 Championships, taking third place (10:55.80)... Ran an 11:28.87 at the Florida Relays, and took eighth place at the All- Ohio Championships (11:37.02).
2007-2008
(INDOOR) Did not compete.
(OUTDOOR) Recorded a career best in the 3000 meter steeplechase (11:20.60) finishing seventh at the Atlantic 10 Championship...Her highest finish of the season came at the Hillsdale Relays where she turned in a time of 11:33.76 for the gold.
(CROSS COUNTRY) Junior Ellen Nienhaus ran in Dayton's final three races of the year. She used to her first race, the Falcon Invitational, to gear up for a strong showing at the Atlantic 10 Championships. At A-10s, Nienhaus finished third on the team and 59th overall in a time of 20:50. She wrapped up the season at the NCAA Regional, where she finished seventh for the Flyers.
2006-2007
(CROSS COUNTRY) This sophomore runner competed in all meets in 2006....She was the fifth Flyer across the finish line at the Flyer 5K Challenge with a time of 19:48...She scored in third place five times throughout the season ...She turned in a 19:30 time at the A-10 Championship placing 41st overall recording her season-best time and the fifth fastest time for a Flyer during 2006...Ended the year with a strong finish at the NCCA Great Lakes Regional running the course in a time of 24:09.
(INDOOR/OUTDOOR) Did not compete.
2005-2006
(CROSS COUNTRY) One of five freshman runners, Nienhaus averaged a time of 19:51 in five 5K races... The sixth Flyer across the line at the Flyer 5K with a 20:02... Trimmed her time to 19:40 at the National Catholic Invitational... Turned in a 19:57 at the Greater Louisville Classic... Her season-best came at the Atlantic 10 Championship, a 19:23 to be the second finisher for UD... Also turned in a 6K NCAA Pre-Nationals time of 24:12.
(INDOOR) This Flyer had her season-best 800m at the Cedarville Invite in February when she clocked 2:30.54 placing fourth overall in the event...Had her season-best one-mile finish at the All-Ohio Championship in February (placing 12th in a time of 5:24:92)... In her only 4x800 relay of the season, Nienhaus, along with her fellow teammates, took home gold at the Cedarville Invite (10:07.57)...She also competed in the distance medley at the Atlantic 10 Championships placing sixth overall (12:46.39).
(OUTDOOR) Nienhaus opened the outdoor season with a 1500m time of 5:09.4 at the Shamrock Invite...She steadily improved her time and recorded her season-best at the All-Ohio Championship in April placing tenth in a time of 5:05.1...She ran the 800m at the Shamrock Invitational (2:29.5) and at the All-Ohio Championship (2:35.4)...In her one relay event of the season, she helped lead the Flyers to an eighth place finish in the 4x800 at the Atlantic 10 Championships (9:31.38).
