The University of Dayton has announced its 2009 award winners for women's tennis. Senior Nikki Dzubay was named the team's MVP, sophomore Laina Grote was the Most Improved Player and sophomore Chelsea Glanker earned the Coach's Award.

Dzubay, a 2005 graduate of Sylvania (Ohio) Northview High School, led the team in wins in 2008-09. Playing primarily at #4 singles, she had eight wins on her own, and teamed with Kelly O'Connell at #1 doubles for eight more. Dzubay was also honored with the Reverend Charles L. Collins, S.M. Award of Excellence to an athlete for Outstanding Citizenship at UD's 2009 Commencement.

Grote was 4-14 playing in the #2 singles slot, with two of her wins coming in the last three matches of the season. She is a St. Francis DeSales graduate from Galena, Ohio.

Glanker, a product of Pope High School in Roswell, Georgia, was 7-9 at #3 singles and 8-8 at #1 doubles teaming with Loni Dickerhoof.

Dayton was 10-10 overall and was tied for ninth out of 14 teams at the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship. The Flyers lose only Dzubay to graduation for next season.
