University of Dayton tennis standout Erin Kirkland (Dayton, OH/Alter HS) was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV At-Large Second Team today. The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

The marketing major maintained a cumulative 3.83 GPA during her career at UD. She was selected to the All-Academic Team each of the three years she was eligible for nomination and was named All-Conference four times.

Kirkland closed out her Flyer career this season with a 17-2 singles record and a 16-4 mark in doubles competition this Spring. She finished with a total of 168 combined career wins in both singles and doubles play, which are the most in UD program history. Kirkland also had a school record 51 combined wins last season for the Flyers.

To be nominated for Academic All-District, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
