College Park, MD - The UD women's tennis team will face St. Bonaventure in the first round of the 23rd annual Atlantic 10 Championship this weekend. The Flyers (12-6) drew the No. 6 seed and will face the Bonnies at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Tennis Center of College Park, MD.

"We're hoping the first match goes as well as our last meeting with St. Bonaventure," said coach Dawn Mamula. The Flyers topped the Bonnies 7-0 on March 12. "From there, we'll see how far we can go."

The winner draws third-seeded Xavier at 3:30 Friday, with the semifinals taking place on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.

The Flyers have won nine of their last eleven matches, putting them at 12-6 for the spring season. The team is undefeated against Atlantic 10 teams, having also beat Duquesne 4-3 on April 9.

Senior Erin Kirkland (Dayton, Ohio) will lead the Flyers into the Tournament. As the No. 1 seed player, her current spring season is 15-2 in singles and 14-3 in doubles.
