The Dayton Flyers women's tennis team is penciled into the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship as the No. 11 seed, and will face No. 6 Rhode Island in first round action, it was announced Monday. The Flyers' first match will be on Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m. from Club 4 Life in Monroeville, PA.

Dayton, which sported a 7-14 overall spring record, did not face the Rams in regular season competition. UD was 1-3 against Atlantic 10 squads.

If the Flyers are victorious, they will face either Richmond or La Salle in the second round on Friday at 6 p.m.

UD will look to make improvements at this season's tournament under first-year head coach Linda O'Keefe. Over the past two years, Dayton has hovered around the No. 11 spot in the conference. The Flyers tied for 11th at the 2007 A-10 Championship, were picked 11th in this year's preseason poll, and now enter the 2008 Championship as the No. 11 seed.
