Results

The University of Dayton women's tennis team defeated St. Bonaventure this morning in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship. UD won 4-0 in an abbreviated match. The Flyers, the sixth seed in the tournament, advance to face #3 seed Xavier in the quarterfinals.

In doubles, Kara Metzger and Allysa Detroy won at #2 doubles 8-2. When St. Bonaventure had to default #3 doubles, Dayton won the doubles point.

In singles, senior Erin Kirkland won at #1 by the score of 6-2, 6-1 and Detroy took #3 singles 6-0, 6-1. When the Bonnies defaulted at #6 singles, UD had the four points needed for the win.

The Flyers are now 13-6 on the season, and have won ten of their last 12 matches.

The Dayton-Xavier match begins at 3:30 Friday, with the winner advancing to Saturday's semifinal versus the winner of 10th-seeded Rhode Island and #2-seed Richmond.
