MONROEVILLE, PA - The eleventh-seeded Dayton Flyers swept the doubles point to begin Saturday's second-round consolation match against George Washington, but dropped a 4-2 decision to the Colonials in Monroeville, PA. The loss put Dayton in a tie for eleventh place overall.

The Flyers finished tied with St. Bonaventure in the overall standings.

UD began the match against GW in grand fashion. Junior Nikki Dzubay and freshman Kelly O'Connell recorded Dayton's first win with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Laina Grote and sophomore Molly Mathews were 8-6 winners at No. 3 to give the Flyers and early 1-0 lead in the match.

Mathews also tallied a singles win at No. 6, where she dominated Michele Style 6-2, 6-0.

UD ended its 2008 spring campaign at 8-17 overall. It was the Flyers first season under the leadership of head coach Linda O'Keefe, who will have to replace graduating seniors Megan Gray and Allysa Detroy.
