Youngstown, OH - The University of Dayton's women's tennis team fell to Youngstown State by a score of 4-3 in their final regular season match Friday. Senior Erin Kirkland (pictured) earned a singles win as well as helped win the doubles point for the Flyers.

Senior Erin Kirkland started the match in the #1 singles position, defeating Karen Najbert of Youngstown State in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Alyssa Detroy, Kate Mellion and Kara Metzger were unable to find singles wins for the Flyers. Freshman Megan Gray defeated Youngstown State's Nicole Muzechuk in a hard fought match by a score of 7-6(7-4), 6-2. Emily Thayer of Youngstown State got the best of Katie Cabanski in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.

Finding wins in doubles action was the #1 doubles pair of Kirkland and Gray defeating Gina Peretti and Najbert of Youngstown State, 8-4. Hagood and Thayer got the best of UD's Mellion and Cabanski, 8-1 but Detroy and Metzger teamed up to secure the doubles point by defeating Whitney Thomas and Michelle Fuleky of Youngstown State, 8-5.

The Flyers are now at 12-6 overall on the season and face competition next Friday at the Atlantic 10 Championship in Greenbelt, Maryland.
