Freshman Megan Gray brought a singles and doubles win for the Flyers

Results

The UD women's tennis team defeated their hometown rivals Wright State this afternoon. The Flyers defeated the Raiders 5-2. This victory brought the team's winning streak to seven.

Singles play started with a win by senior Erin Kirkland (Dayton, OH) over Jessica Lee 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Allysa Detroy (Evansville, IN) snatched victory from Laura Culbertson 6-4, 7-5. Sophomore Kara Metzger (Franksville, WI) defeated Jenny Bagley 6-2, 6-0. The final singles win came from freshman Megan Gray (Akron, OH) against Christa Ames 6-4, 6-1.

The Flyers won two of three matches in doubles. Kirkland and senior Courtney McDowell (Centerville, OH) teamed up to defeat Lee and Foster 8-3. Sophomore Kate Mellion (Clinton, OH) and Gray had a solid victory over Laux and Ames 8-2.

The team's overall record moves to 10-4.

The Flyers continue play on Wednesday, April 6 against Bulter in Indianapolis, IN at 4:00 p.m.
