WOMEN'S TENNIS RAIDS WRIGHT STATE IN 4-2 WIN
April 3, 2007
The University of Dayton women's tennis team defeated its crosstown rival, the Wright State Raiders, on Tuesday, 4-2, in a match that did not include doubles competition. Because of bad weather conditions, the match was moved indoors and cut short once UD (5-16) clinched the victory with its fourth point. Senior Allysa Detroy led the way, earning her team-leading eleventh victory of the spring. Her 7-5, 6-1 win over Audra Beckett paced the Flyers at #2 singles. At #4, junior Megan Gray also tallied a straight-sets win, 6-3, 7-5 over Christina Ames. Freshman Erin Wilkie had a solid showing in the #5 slot, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Monica Capozziello. Sophomore Mackenzie Hoops rounded out the scoring for the Flyers, with a convincing comeback win in three sets, 2-6, 6-0, 6-0, against Jackie Garrett. Dayton is off until Saturday, April 14, when it travels to Olean, NY to face off with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies. |
