Results

The University of Dayton women's tennis team ended its two game winning streak with a 7-0 loss to Duquesne Friday, March 28. Junior Nicole Dzubay won the only set of the day for the Flyers, splitting with Andrea Sailer in the first two sets (6-1, 0-6). Despite shutting out Sailer in the second set, Dzubay eventually lost the tie-breaker with a 10-7 decision at No. 5 singles.

The Dukes dominated the singles competition of the afternoon. While Sophomore Molly Mathews made a second set come-back (7-6) after dropping her first singles set to Kristen Swenson, 6-3, she lost at No. 6 singles with a 7-1 tie-breaking verdict.

The Duquesne Dukes swept the doubles point as well. No. 1 Johanna Bezjak and Zena Williams paired up to beat Allysa Detroy and Chelsea Gray, 8-1. At No. 2, Dzubay and Freshman Kelly O'Connell fell 8-1 to the Rebecca Poole/Zena Williams duo. Partners Kellaina Grote and Mathews at No. 3 were also defeated as Duquesne's Sailer and Alexandria Albano took the match, 8-3.

The Flyers are back in action on Sunday morning (March 30) as they host the Evansville Purple Aces. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. EST.
