Results

The UD women's tennis team snatched victory from Niagara University on Saturday, March 12. The Flyers soared above the Purple Eagles 6-0, continuing their growing winning streak.

The Flyers served an ace in both singles and doubles play. Senior Erin Kirkland (Dayton, OH) started the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kendra Daigler. Freshman Allysa Detroy (Evansville, IN) sealed the number three seated victory over Julianne Prokopich 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Kate Mellion (Clinton, OH) continued the team's run with a win against Shella Dargout 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Fellow sophomore Kara Metzger (Franksville, WI) triumphed over Rachel Lesniewski 6-2, 6-1. To seal the Flyers fate, freshman Megan Gray (Akron, OH) defeated Kristen McInerney 6-0, 6-0.

The team's strong play continued into the doubles matches. Kirkland and senior Courtney McDowell (Centerville, OH) started the Flyers with a victory over Cary and Prokopich 9-7. Detroy and Metzger teamed up to defeat Daigler and Dargout 8-0. Gray and Mellion finished the sweep with a win against Lesniewski and McInerney 8-0.

The final match score was Dayton 6, Niagara 0. The overall women's tennis record is now 8-4.

The Flyers hope to continue their five-match winning streak with victory over Bowling Green on Wednesday, March 16 at 3:00 pm in Bowling Green, Ohio.
