Lexington, OH - The Dayton women's tennis team swept Akron in doubles and took four of the six singles matches on Saturday in Lexington, OH to improve to 4-6 in dual matches this spring. Sophomore Megan Gray and freshman Carrie Trigilio each posted their team-leading fifth singles win of the year in the 5-2 victory over the Zips.

Gray was victorious at #4 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Alyssa Carlson. Trigilio dropped the first set, but tallied a win in the #5 slot by defeating Laura Hemlepp 4-6, 6-3, 1-0.

Junior Kate Mellion and freshman Nicole Dzubay were winners in straight sets for the Flyers at #2 and #3 singles, respectively. Mellion pulled out a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Kerry Langworthy while Dzubay cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lindsey Berry.

UD swept the doubles point, led by Mellion and sophomore Allysa Detroy at #1 who defeated Alyssa Carlson and Tanya Gombera 8-3. Gray and Dzubay paired up for a win at #2 over Berry and Langworthy, while Trigilio and Mackenzie Hoops won in a tiebreaker, 9-8, at #3.

The Flyers are next in action Saturday, March 3 against Murray State at Riverside Racket Club in Hamilton, OH. Match time is 6:00 PM.
