Results

At their first home match this spring season, the UD women's tennis team served an ace against IPFW. The Flyers conquered the meet by winning all matches and defeated the Mastodons 7-0.

The team dominated both single and doubles play. Senior Erin Kirkland (Dayton, OH) started the streak off with a win against Ashley Coulson 6-2, 6-0. Fellow senior Courtney McDowell (Centerville, OH) captured her first singles win of the spring season by defeating Hanna Hager 6-3, 6-1. Number three seeded freshman Allysa Detroy (Evansville, IN) beat Lisa Bartelheim 6-1. 6-2. Sophomore Kate Mellion (Clinton, OH) was victorious over Jill Carie 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Kara Metzger (Franksville, WI) defeated Beth Miller 6-1, 6-1. To finish the singles sweep, freshman Megan Gray (Akron, OH) secured a win against Jennifer Pape 6-1, 6-2.

The Flyers continued to serve a smash in their doubles play. Kirkland and McDowell teamed up to defeat Carie and Coulson 8-6. Number two seeded Detroy and Metzger snatched a win from Vervynckt and Miller 8-2. Gray and junior Katie Cabanski (Toledo, OH) completed the 3-0 run with a victory against Hager and Bartelheim 8-3.

The women's team recorded now moves to 4-4.

The Flyers will travel to Detroit on Sunday, February 20, where they will face the Titans at 12:00 p.m.
