DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton women's tennis team was defeated by Southern Illinois on Sunday, 6-1, despite capturing the doubles point to open the match. The loss dropped the Flyers to 0-5 this spring, and ended their four-match homestand.

The Flyers took two out of three doubles matches. Sophomores Nikki Dzubay and Mackenzie Hoops paired up for a 9-8(4) win over Jessica Flannery and Amanda Taillefer at #2 doubles. At #1, junior Allysa Detroy and senior Kate Mellion posted an 8-5 victory, defeating Ame Blacketer and Martina Vianna Ce.

UD forced three singles matches into a third set, but struggled to come out on top. Junior Megan Gray fell 6-1 in the third set at #3 singles, while Mellion and Detroy each dropped third-set tiebreakers at #1 and #2.

The Flyers are back in action on Friday, Feb. 9 in Toledo, Ohio. Match time with the Rockets is 12 p.m.
