Pittsburgh, PA - The Flyers fell to Duquesne 6-1 in the third contest of a six match road trip on Friday in Pittsburgh. Sophomore Megan Gray recorded the team's only point by tallying a singles victory as the Flyers tried to upset the unbeaten Dukes. Dayton is now 1-2 on the road trip and 2-3 overall this spring.

Gray went the distance in her match at #4 singles after dropping the first set 2-6. Gray won the second set 6-4 before delivering the knockout punch to Duquesne's Andrea Sailer 10-8 in the third set tiebreaker. Her spring singles record now stands at 3-2.

Freshmen Carrie Trigilio and Mackenzie Hoops teamed up for a UD victory at #3 doubles. The duo defeated Sailer and Alicia McNamara 8-4 in the pro set. However, the Dukes captured the doubles point by handling the pairing of Allysa Detroy and Kate Mellion at #1 and pulling out a 9-8 win against Gray and Nikki Dzubay at #2.

The match had potential to be closer than the score showed. Detroy came up just short of her second victory of the spring at #1 singles. Duquesne's Johanna Bezjak outlasted Detroy 7-5, 7-6(3) to drop Detroy's record to 1-4. Mellion went three sets at #2 singles before Jackie Hughes took control with a 6-1 win in the third.

Dayton is in action Saturday at Youngstown State in Youngstown, OH.
