The UD women's tennis team routed the IUPUI Jaguars, 7-0, on Sunday at Dayton Center Courts for its first victory of the season. The win marked Dayton's first dual match victory under the leadership of first-year Head Coach Linda O'Keefe. The Flyers are now 1-4, and IUPUI fell to 0-2.

Due to an illness to one IUPUI player, the Jaguars could only field five competitors. As a result, the Flyers won No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles by forfeit.

With one point automatically under its belt thanks to the forfeit at No. 6 singles, Dayton took care of business on the remaining courts.

The Flyers won both of the doubles matches that were played to capture the doubles point. Seniors Allysa Detroy and Megan Gray held off Andrea Burkhardt and Emily Holsapple at No. 1 for an 8-6 victory. At No. 2, junior Nikki Dzubay and freshman Kelly O'Connell cruised over Dana Gardner and Vanessa Carna, 8-3.

In singles, UD won three matches in straight-sets. Freshman Laina Grote improved to a team-best 3-2 this spring with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Holsapple at No. 2. Classmate Chelsea Glankler tallied a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Dana Gardner at No. 4, and Dzubay dominated Lisa Gebhard, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.

Detroy and Gray were each forced to three sets in their matches at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but each pulled out the victory in a third-set tiebreak.

Sunday's win marked the Flyers' first 7-0 victory since Jan. 29, 2006 when they swept IPFW.

The Flyers are back in action on Friday, Feb. 8 for the first of three weekend matches in Fort Wayne, IN. UD faces Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, followed by matches against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Saturday and IPFW on Sunday.
