Coach Mike Unger returns for his 12th year as the head coach of the Flyers women's tennis team. Last season, the Flyers posted a 15-14 record and finished in sixth place at the Atlantic 10 championships. Eight members of last year's team were named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Coach Unger added to his impressive lists of accomplishments in the 2002-03 season. For the fourth time in his career, one of his teams was named an ITA Academic All America team. Unger has also coached seven Academic All-Americans, including current player Sarah Miller. Additionally, Unger has coached three Academic All-America teams, and five Academic All -Americans.

Unger graduated from Ohio University in 1970, and played baseball there. He earned his master's degree from the University of San Francisco. Unger coached tennis at Patterson High School in Dayton for the boys and girls teams from 1978-1991. His highlight came in 1986 and 1987 when he helped win back-to-back City League titles. Along with coaching the Flyers, Unger has been teaching in the Dayton Public School System for 32 years.

Unger and his wife, Yolanda, live in Waynesville, OH, with their daughter Emily.
