Mollie Schrank was named All-Rookie and Second Team

May 10, 2006

University of Dayton freshman outfielder Mollie Schrank was named to the Atlantic 10 Softball All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie teams Wednesday in a vote of the conference's coaches.

Schrank led UD with a .344 batting average, which was 15th in the Atlantic 10 this season. The speedster from Fairfield, OH, with a knack for beating out infield hits had 41 singles and three doubles in 128 at bats, scored 20 runs and was a perfect seven-for-seven in stolen bases.

Schrank documented her freshman season at UD with road trip journals for DaytonFlyers.com: On the Road with Mollie Schrank.

The Flyers finished the season 18-30 overall and 8-12 in the Atlantic 10. Dayton will lose three players -- Melissa Myher, Tami Roudebush and Christina Vetter -- to graduation. UD has 16 players scheduled to return.
