PHILADELPHIA - Three University of Dayton softball players earned recognition on the 2009 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Teams, as determined by voting among the Conference's head coaches. Freshman Lauren Nacke, and juniors Anne Maci and Molly Meyer each earned awards, with Nacke and Meyer picking up two honors each.

Nacke was named the All-Conference first team designated player, and also earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team. Meyer was named Honorable Mention All-Conference, while Maci and Meyer both earned spots on the Academic All-Conference Team.

Nacke came on strong late in the season. Since hitting her first home run on March 31, she boasted a 1.038 slugging percentage, 10 home runs and 28 RBI (all in less than a month's time). She claimed three of the last five Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors this season. She first earned the honor on April 6 after hitting four home runs, including a grand slam and notching 11 RBI. She got the honor for the consecutive second week on April 13 after hitting .571 with 9 RBI and three home runs, including her second grand slam. She hit .529 with three home runs to garner the award for the third time on April 27.

Nacke continues the tradition of a Flyer being placed on the All-Rookie Team. Since it was instituted in 2006, Dayton has earned a spot on the nine-player team every year: Emily Stegeman (2008), Molly Meyer (2007), and Mollie Schrank (2006). Nacke is the first UD freshman to earn first team honors since Kerry White took top honors as shortstop in 1999. This year, she was one of just two freshmen who earned first team accolades. Nacke was also named UD's Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

For the third consecutive year, Meyer has been noted by the A-10, and for the second consecutive season she collected Honorable Mention recognition. She broke the UD single-season record for runs scored and is also now the career record holder with 99 runs scored. She ranked second in the A-10 in runs scored 46, third in doubles (13), and sixth in batting average (.364). Meyer lead the Flyers in batting average (.364), hits (56), runs scored (46), doubles (13), triples (3), total bases (81) and stolen bases (11). Dayton's Most Valuable Player, she was also named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on March 16, 2009 after hitting .591.

In addition to their success on the diamond, Meyer and Maci were both named to the 10-person Academic All-Conference Team. For the second consecutive season, the Flyers have had two players named to the prestigious team, a claim no other Atlantic 10 team can make.

Meyer carries a 3.48 GPA in marketing, while Maci has a 3.44 GPA in exercise physiology. Both were also ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American nominees. Maci is second for the Flyers in batting average (.313), doubles (10), putouts (182), RBI (29) and runs scored (21). She is clutch for the Flyers, hitting a team-best clip of .411 with runners in scoring position, including .667 with the bases loaded. She hit safely in 18 of UD's last 20 games.
