FLYERS TO HOST CROSS TOWN FOES WRIGHT STATE IN FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON

Dayton softball will host backyard rival Wright State in the final game of the season Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. The Flyers will take a 19-18-1 overall record and an 8-8 A-10 mark into the season finale. UD split with both Temple and Fordham in A-10 doubleheaders last weekend. The win over Fordham gave the Rams their first conference loss of the season. Freshmen Erin LaFayette improved to 5-6 on the season as she helped the Flyers in a 4-2 victory over Fordham. LaFayette pitched six innings allowing only four hits to earn the win. Cassie Gross leads UD with nine home runs this season and 16 for her career. She enters her final collegiate game looking to take first place on Dayton`s all-time career homerun list. Gross has a .361 batting average as she went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the win over Fordham. She had a three homerun weekend with two against Temple and one against Fordham. Gross is fourth in program history in at bats with 531 in her four years at Dayton. She has also crossed the plate 77 times and has 77 RBI which are both good for third best in UD history. Shannon St. Clair will also finish her career as Flyer and enters with a .273 average, good for third on the team. She has 33 hits this season with 31 runs scored bring her total runs scored to 59 which is good for fifth place on the all-time career list. St. Clair has five doubles, three triples and three home runs. She has been walked 28 times this season to bring her total number of walks to 100 in her career, the most in Flyer history. |
