Cassie Gross Leads The Offense For UD With A .390 Batting Average

The University of Dayton softball team will host Butler University for a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Dayton returned home from upstate New York where they were swept by the St. Bonaventure Bonnies over the weekend. UD fell to 11-12-1, and to 2-4 in the A 10, following a four-game win streak prior to playing the Bonnies.

Cassie Gross leads the offense for UD with a .390 batting average (first in the A-10) followed by Shannon St. Clair who is hitting .288. Gross is tied for third with seven doubles on the season, leads UD in hits with 30 and has five homeruns on the season. Gross has a .460 on base percentage. She is also batting .390 with a .675 slugging percentage.

Teammate Tamsyn Kellough is batting .253 and has eight doubles good for second place in the A-10. The right fielder leads the team in doubles with eight and 19 RBI on the season. Kellough is second on the team with a .418 slugging percentage and is three for three in stolen bases.

Junior Melissa Myher has pitched 90.1 innings for the Flyers and is 8-5 with 14 appearances all of which were games she started this season. She pitched a pair of complete-game victories in the wins over Rhode Island. Myher has struck 68 batters, walked 32 and has an ERA of 2.63.
