Laura Matthews hit her first collegiate homerun Saturday against UMass

Dayton's softball team will take on Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday, March 26th. Dayton is hitting .224 as a team with 50 Runs scored on 78 hits through its first 15 games.

UD is coming off a loss to the University of Massachusetts Minutewomen. UMass was picked to win the A-10 Regular Season Title after earning an at-large berth to the 2004 NCAA Tourney. The Flyers are now 6-8 on the season.

Leading the offense for UD, Cassie Gross is batting .388 and has a .735 slugging percentage. Senior Shannon St. Clair is hitting .268 with a .391 slugging percentage and has hit her first home run of the season as Dayton fell to UMass 8-1.

Laura Matthews is second on the team in batting average with .276, including eight hits, two doubles. Matthews hit her first career homerun in the loss to UMass.

Leading UD in pitching is Melissa Myher with an ERA of 3.20 and a 4-3 record. Myher has started eight games for Dayton and has struck out 30 in 54.2 innings pitched. She leads the team in ERA, strikeouts, and innings pitched.

Dayton will travel to Wright State Wednesday, March 30. UD will return home to take on Rhode Island to return to play in the Atlantic 10 at 1:00 p.m.
