Freshman outfielder Mollie Schrank kept a journal during the Flyers' road trip to Richmond, KY, for the Eastern Kentucky Invitational.

We left campus this afternoon around 4:00 p.m., so we didn't have to miss any class. We are headed to Eastern Kentucky University for a two-day tournament. The bus ride took a little over three hours thanks to some rush hour traffic in Cincinnati. I talked to my mom for a little bit and then slept most of the way, or at least kind of slept.

We took a charter bus so we had the movie Hitch playing. We arrived in Richmond around 7:15 and ate at Red Lobster since it is Friday during Lent. I sat with Shay [Shalyn Adams], Moty [Laura Matthews], Chelsea [Grozenski], Ellie [Malchow], and Katie Jordan. It was a good time! We had some very interesting and entertaining conversations to say the least. We convinced our waiter to come to our games because he said he went to Eastern but I'll let you know tomorrow if he shows. After Red Lobster we went to the hotel, a Red Roof Inn this time. Shout out to my roomies, Shay, Blair [Crabtree], and Eggo [Christine Eggers]! We didn't do much else tonight. Just found our room and watched some TV. Two games tomorrow at 11 and 1. My parents and best friend are coming!

Today we got up around 8:00 a.m., got our stuff together, ate some breakfast and left for the fields around 8:45. Our first game was at 11:00 against Cleveland State. We lost, it was bad and I'm going to leave it at that. We then played Easter Kentucky right after that, which we also lost, and it was bad, but maybe not as bad. We at least battled back this game despite our not-so-hot defense. For some reason we just got off to a slow start today and hopefully all this will change and that team that was out there today won't be seen again starting tomorrow!

After our games we were allowed to leave with our parents if they were there. Mine were! I was really excited to see them and get to hang out. We went to Outback and my best friend Stacie and her boyfriend/my new friend Adam who go to Eastern came along as well. It was a lot of fun. We ate dinner, saw some of the campus and hung out in the good ol' town of Richmond, Kentucky. Curfew was 10:00 if you were out with your parents. I got back around 9:45, showered and talked to some of the girls for a few minutes before getting ready for bed. The girls whose parents weren't there stayed to watch some of the next game after ours then went to O'Charley's. Then, of course, they came back to the hotel and played cards. There always seems to be some kind of card game going on. That's it though, but I did fail to mention, that despite our losses Tamsyn [Kellough] and Blair hit homeruns, which is awesome! I also have to mention that Eggo came about three feet short and they played her on the fence after that. Way to be intimidating!

Today was so much better than yesterday. We played IUPUI (that's Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis) twice and won both games! The first game we won 5-3. Congratulations to my awesome roommate for the weekend, who hit another homerun, Blair Crabtree. Then the second game we won 5-4. We still weren't perfect by any means, but our defense looked a whole lot better and our offense continued to hit well.

After our games we stopped at Subway and then headed back to Dayton. Once again I slept most of the way, but this time the movie was Love and Basketball. We got back around 6:00 which was nice because it wasn't as late as we expected. Oh and just a side note, I never saw the waiter mentioned from Friday...but I kind of forgot about it! Next up...Orlando for Spring break! Watch out here we come!
