DAYTON, Ohio - The UD softball team won its final game of the 2006 season with a 2-1 win in game two to split a doubleheader with Saint Louis Saturday. The Billikens won game one, 2-0, as the Flyers finish the season 18-30 overall and 8-12 in the Atlantic 10. Senior pitcher Melissa Myher struck out 11 batters in two games to finish her career with 408 strikeouts, second all-time at UD.

In game one, the Flyers fell 2-0, as SLU's Logan Justice doubled to left center, stole third and scored on a sacrifce fly by Jill Pursell in the third inning. Lorena Floccari homered to center field to cap the scoring in the fourth.

Ashley Levan (12-12) pitched seven innings of shutout ball, allowing four hits and striking out seven.

Myher (10-19) struck out six, including her 400th career strikeout in the fifth inning.

Her first pitch of the day was caught by senior Christina Vetter, who came back from surgery to repair an injured thumb to catch one pitch on senior day. She finished the season with a .244 batting average, .346 on-base percentage and helped the Flyers to a 24-19 record the past two seasons in games in which she started at catcher.

In game two, SLU took an early one-run lead in the first. Pursell walked and after a fielder's choice, AshLeigh Williams doubled to right field.

Dayton tied the game in the fourth as Mollie Schrank singled to right field. After a fielder's choice, Tamsyn Kellough singled through the left side and Laura Matthews singled to left field to tie the game.

In the sixth, Schrank slapped a ball to third, and the third baseman had difficulty getting it out of her glove. Blair Crabtree bunted in front of home plate and reached first. Kellough sacrificed the runners up a base and a wild pitch gave UD a 2-1 lead.

Myher slammed the door in the seventh for her 42nd career win, second all-time at UD.

Fellow senior Tami Roudebush went 0-3 in each game to end her steller senior season. Roudebush finishes with a .309 average, nine doubles and a pair of home runs. The infielder saw time at second base and shortstop on the season and hit in 13-straight games during the year. she finishes sixth on UD's all-time home run list.

Freshmen Schrank and Crabtree (a redshirt in 2005) each went one-for-three in each game.
