DAYTON, OH - The University of Dayton softball team earned its 20th win of the season with a 4-1 victory over the Wright State Raiders Thursday in the season finale at UD Softball Stadium. Tamsyn Kellough hit her second home run of the year, a three-run shot as UD scored four runs in the fifth inning. Cassie Gross went two-for-three with a pair of singles.

Gross, who hit three home runs last weekend to move into a tie for the all-time home run lead at UD with Missy Mellott (1997-2000), finishes her career with 16 home runs.

Neither team got on the board through three innings as WSU's starter Amanda Cody and UD pitcher Melissa Myher traded zeros. Christine Eggers' single to center in the third was UD's first hit while WSU picked up two singles in the first three innings.

Wright State finally pushed a run across in the fourth when Kristen Macy singled home Stephanie Salas, who doubled to right center with one out.

Dayton answered in the bottom of the fifth, as pinch hitter Sheena Rothwell singled to center and after Christine Eggers reached on an error, Shannon St. Clair singled through the left side to plate Ellie Malchow. Kellough followed with a blast to center field for a 4-1 lead and her second home run of the year.

The Raiders loaded the bases in the sixth with no one out, but Myher struck out Jacqueline Macy, got Vanessa Hall to pop up to her and coaxed a grounder to third from Lauren Boggs to escape the jam. Myher earns her 15th win of the season against 10 losses, allowing one run on seven hits and eight strikeouts.

Cody falls to 5-10 on the season for the Raiders (14-19) visiting from nearby Fairborn.

The Flyers finish the 2005 season 20-18-1 overall, Dayton's second 20-win season in the last three years and fifth under head coach Jodi Eickemeyer. Eickemeyer was honored before the game for reaching her 200th win against Temple. She currently stands at 202, the most wins in school history.
