KINGSTON, RI - The Dayton Flyers dropped a 2-1 decision to Rhode Island in game one of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader Sunday. Christine Eggers went two-for-two with a run scored for UD.

Eggers' two hits were the only two that URI starter Katie Halcomb allowed. Halcomb struck out five and walked three to improve to 12-10 and drop Dayton to 16-28 overall, 6-11 in the A-10.

In the bottom of the first, URI opened the inning with a one-out walk, and then back-to-back singles to load the bases. Alyssa Martino singled home a run, but UD starter Melissa Myher avoided further damage.

The Rams added another run in the fifth with a leadoff single, a sacrifice, and a double by Courtney Wall.

Dayton picked up a run in the sixth, when Eggers doubled to right center and scored on an error when Mollie Schrank's infield hit attempt was mishandled. Schrank was sacrificed to second, took third on a wild pitch, but was stranded there as the game's tying run.

Game two begins at approximately 1:15.
