DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team lost both games of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader on Sunday as Fordham swept the two-game series at Bahoshy Field in Bronx, New York. The Flyers fell in game one, 4-0 and lost game two, 6-0.

With the pair of losses, Dayton falls to 11-26 overall and 3-12 in the A-10, while Fordham improves to 36-13 and 14-2 in the conference.

Christine Eggers, Mollie Schrank, Maggie Stopka and Laura Matthews lead the Dayton offense in the opener as each posted a 1-for-3 hitting effort.

Chelsea Grozenski suffered the opening loss giving up nine hits, walking two, and striking out three moving to 3-13 on the year.

Fordham got things started in the first game scoring three runs in the third. Stephanie Mott walked and stole second as Allison Twarowski singled and stole second. Krystle Henry singled in the next at bat sending in Mott and advanced to second on wild pitch as Twarowski scored on the same play putting one more up for the Rams. Melissa Andrews reached on a fielder's choice to knock in the third run as Fordham lead 3-0 early on.

The Rams added one more run in the fifth for all the runs the team would need to seal the game one win as Dayton remained scoreless for the remainder of the game eventually falling 4-0 in the opener.

Sara Kinney earned the complete game winning pitching seven solid innings. Kinney struck-out 14, walked one, and gave up only four hits.

Fordham's Henry went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI as Twarowski went 2-for-3 adding a run of her own.

In the finale, Stopka and Matthews recorded the only hits for Dayton with one each as the Rams out-hit the Flyers 11-2.

A series of singles put a run up for Fordham in the bottom of the first. The Rams added one more in the third as Twarowski tripled and Henry sacrificed to send her teammate in.

The Flyers remained scoreless as Fordham kept up the momentum into the fifth inning when the team scored on a throwing error and four singles to gain a 4-0 lead.

The Rams put the game away in the sixth adding one more run as Henry singled and Andrews followed with a double to score all the runs Fordham would need to take the finale (6-0) and earn the sweep.

Erin Lafayette suffered the game two loss giving up eight hits, walking two and striking out one.

Fordham's Nicole Ayres earned the complete game win improving to 15-7 on the season. Ayres gave up only two hits striking out six in the finale.

Next up for the Flyers is an Atlantic 10 match-up against Charlotte on Saturday, May 5 on senior day. The Flyers are set to take on the 49ers in doubleheader action closing out the home portion of the season at UD Softball Stadium.
