DAYTON, OH - Cassie Gross' blast to left highlighted a 4-0 win over Saint Joseph's in game one of an Atlantic 10 softball doubleheader Monday afternoon. Melissa Myher tossed a complete game shutout. Dayton improves to 17-15-1 and 6-5 in the A-10.

Dayton scored two in the bottom of the first, on a single by Christine Eggers, an errant throw on a Shannon St. Clair sacrifice and a two-run double by Tamsyn Kellough.

Gross teed off on a Lauren Cognigni pitch to lead off the fourth inning for her sixth homer of the season, and Dayton tacked another on in the sixth. After Gross singled to start the inning, Tami Roudebush reached on an error and pinch hitter Laura Matthews singled to left, plating Gross.

Myher put down Saint Joseph's in order in the seventh for her 13th win of the season. Myher (13-7) scattered eight hits, walking none and striking out five. Cognigni takes loss for Saint Joseph's (14-19; 3-6 A-10).

The Flyers sit in fourth place, with 1.5 game lead over George Washington (4-6) for the final spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Saint Joseph's is in sixth place, two games back of UD.

Dayton will go for the sweep beginning at 3:00 p.m.
