DAYTON, OHIO - Christine Eggers went six-for-six and Laura Matthews hit a two-run home run as the UD softball team swept IPFW in a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 4-1 and 7-6.

The Flyers took game one behind Melissa Myher, with Eggers collecting three hits. UD is now 15-24 overall on the season.

In game two, The Mastadons got on the board first with a two-run home run by Kayla Vargo in the top of the first.

The Flyers picked up a run in the bottom of the second when Tami Roudebush led off with a double and came in to score on a single to right by Laura Matthews and cut the lead to 2-1.

In the fourth, Dayton took the lead with a single to open the inning from Shalyn Adams. Ellie Malchow added a one-out single and a run came in on a two-out single from Christine Eggers. Blair Crabtree followed with a single up the middle to give UD a 3-2 lead.

Matthews' first home run of the year came with two outs and one on in the fifth, a blast to left that followed a single by Roudebush.

following the home run, Ellie Malchow ripped a double to left center, and pinch hitter Maggie Stopka delivered a single to plate Malchow and Blair Crabtree added another RBI single to stretch the lead to 7-2.

UD starter Chelsea Grozenski got into trouble in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with one out and allowing a two-run double to Kacie Stone, and a two-run single to Vargo. But she got a popout behind home plate to end the game for her seventh win (7-4). Grozenski struck out two and allowed seven hits.

Roudebush was three-for-four with two runs scored in game two, while Crabtree collected two hits and two RBI.

Jenna Connelly took the loss for IPFW, allowing all seven runs in 4.2 innings. Katie Aspergren mopped up with 1.1 innings of four-hit ball.

The Flyers are at IPFW on Monday at 3:00. UD travels to New England for a weekend road trip at Atlantic 10 foes Massachusetts (doubleheader Friday, 3:00 p.m.) and Rhode Island (doubleheader Sunday, noon). All four Atlantic 10 games will be available on Gametracker at DaytonFlyers.com.
