DAYTON, OHIO - The UD softball team to game one of a non-conference doubleheader against IPFW, 4-1, Sunday at UD Softball Stadium. Christine Eggers was three-for-three with an RBI in game one..

Dayton is now 14-24 overall while IPFW falls to 10-29.

The Flyers pushed a run across in the bottom of the fourth when Blair Crabtree singled up the middle. After a fielder's choice, Shalyn Adams delivered a solid single to right field to score Tamsyn Kellough.

Ellie Malchow led off the bottom of the fifth with a double to right center and advanced to third on a ground out. Christine Eggers drove her home with a single to right for a 2-0 UD lead.

IPFW cut the lead to 2-1 on a solo home run to left by Kacie Stone.

Dayton added insurance runs in the sixth, when IPFW reliever Katie Aspergren walked Kellough and Tami Roudebush to open the inning. Sheena Rothewell stroked a double to the gap in right, scoring Kellough. Laura Matthews followed with a bloop single to center to plate Roudebush for a 4-1 lead.

UD starter Melissa Myher (7-13) scattered five hits, allowing just one run and striking out 10.

IPFW starter Natalie Clark lasted four innings, allowing five hits and a run while striking out one.

Game two begins at 2:10 p.m.
