Box Score

DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Flyers completed a sweep of La Salle in an Atlantic 10 Conference softball doubleheader, 3-2, behind a home run from Shannon St. Clair, her third of the season. Dayton is now 16-15-1 overall and 5-5 in the Atlantic 10.

The Flyers scored all three in the bottom of the third on a leadoff hit-by-pitch by Ellie Malchow. After Cortney Shafer moved her to second with a sacrifice, Malchow took third on a wild pitch. Christine Eggers doubled to the gap in left center for a 1-0 lead. St. Clair followed with an opposite field home run to left for her third of the year, and eighth career blast.

Myher was dealing in game two, allowing just one hit in the first five innings while striking out five in that stretch.

The Explorers got a run in the sixth after a single and an error led to a run on the RBI single from Megan Berry. La Salle added another run on a fielder's choice that scored Vinnie Caputo.

Myher (12-7) finished with six strikeouts and five hits. Her line for the day was 14 innings, 10 hits and three runs allowed with 13 K's and two victories.

Carissa Segura (3-13) was the hard-luck loser for La Salle (7-29-1; 2-8 A-10), striking out seven and allowing just three hits.

Eggers finished one-for-three with a run batted in and a run scored, Sheena Rothwell was also one-for-three.

Earlier in the day, Dayton defeated La Salle 3-1 in game one.

The Flyers move into a tie for fourth in the A-10 with George Washington temporarily. The Colonials are 4-4 entering today's twin bill versus A-10 leader and unbeaten Fordham. Dayton has six league contests remaining. The top four teams make the Atlantic 10 Championship May 12-14 in Kingston, RI.

Dayton hosts Saint Joseph's on Sunday in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader. The Flyers will honor seniors Cassie Gross and Shannon St. Clair with senior day activities prior to the noon first pitch.
