FLYERS TAKE GAME ONE VERSUS BUTLER, 4-0
April 13, 2005
DAYTON, OH - The University of Dayton softball team defeated the Butler Bulldogs 4-0 in game one of a non-conference doubleheader behind a shutout from freshman Erin LaFayette. The Flyers started off the first inning with a walk by Christine Eggers and sacrifice from Shannon St. Clair. Eggers advanced to third on a wild pitch, and Tamsyn Kellough doubled to center right field to put UD up 1-0. Tami Roudebush followed with a double to center field to score Dayton's second run of the game. UD added one more run in the third on a triple to the right field corner by Shannon St. Clair. St. Clair came into score when the relay throw went astray. In the fifth, Kellough doubled to open the inning and was on third when Cassie Gross drew a walk. Gross stole second, forcing an errant throw which allowed Kellough to trot home with the last run of the day. Eggers and Kellough each finished two-for-three. LaFayette threw a complete game for UD and improves to 4-5 on the year. LaFayette allowed only four hits in the game and struck out four and walked four while facing 29 batters. Game two begins at 5:10 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium. |
