DAYTON SOFTBALL SWEEPS BUTLER UNIVERISTY

Dayton, OH - The Dayton softball team completed a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Butler with a 1-0 shutout in game two. Melissa Myher improved to 9-5 by striking out four and allowing just three hits. Dayton improves to 12-11-1 on the season. Dayton scored the lone run of the game in the second inning, when Laura Matthews singled to short. Angel Conaway pinch-ran, stole second base and came into score on Christina Vetter's single to left center. Cassie Gross was two-for-three on the day with a double. Dayton pitchers (Myher and Erin LaFayette) combined for 14 innings of shutout ball, allowing just seven hits while striking out eight. The Flyers will travel to Washington DC to take on the George Washington Colonials on Saturday in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader beginning at noon. |
