TEMPLE RALLIES FOR 3-2 WIN OVER UD SOFTBALL
April 9, 2006
After winning back-to-back games in the bottom of the seventh, the Flyers were on the wrong end of a seventh inning rally in game one, falling 3-2 to Temple Sunday. With one out in the seventh, Temple got a double and a walk, and then a double by Adrienne Repsher to get on the board. With runners on second and third, Amanda Carver hit a grounder to third and the Flyers came home to try and cut down the tying run. But as the ball and runner arrived together, the ball squirted to the backstop, allowing Repsher to score the go-ahead run. Dayton had taken a 1-0 lead in the third on singles by Mollie Schrank and Shalyn Adams. The Flyers added another in the sixth as Tamsyn Kellough singled up the middle and Blair Crabtree singled to right field; Sheena Rothwell singled home Kellough. Melissa Myher suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking just one. UD is now 10-18 entering game two, 4-5 in the A-10. Temple improves to 10-16 overall, 3-2 in the Atlantic 10. Game two begins at 2:35. |
