ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - St. Bonaventure grasped a victory from visiting Dayton with a walk-off RBI single as the Bonnies beat the Flyers Saturday, 2-1 in the opener of an Atlantic 10 softball doubleheader at McGraw-Jennings Field.

The loss dropped UD to 11-11-1 overall and 2-3 in the A-10 while Bona improved to 4-14, 3-0 A-10.

Dayton was held without much offense for most of the game as the Flyers had just two hits and seven total base runners. Tamsyn Kellough finished 1-for-3 with UD's lone RBI, a double in the sixth inning.

Tami Roudebush was also 1-for-3 while Shannon St. Clair walked twice and scored Dayton's only run of the game.

Junior Melissa Myher suffered the loss after allowing just two earned runs over 6.1 innings pitched. She struck out six Bonnies while scattering nine hits and not surrendering a walk.

The Flyers started the scoring in the top of the sixth inning after Tamsyn Kellough knocked an RBI double sending Shannon St. Clair home to put UD on the board.

With the Bonnies trailing, 1-0, junior Kristin Brunetto evened the score with a solo home run over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the sixth.

Freshman Andrea Swanger then ended the contest in the seventh with one out as she knocked home the winning run with a base hit to right field.
