Cassie Gross Hits Two Home Runs For Dayton

The University of Dayton softball team defeated Lipscomb 11-10 in the second game of a doubleheader match up Saturday.

Cassie Gross went 3-for-5 with two home runs in the game. Cassie hit a two-run home run in her first at bat. Her second homerun came in the bottom of the second inning with three players on base as the Flyers went up 7-1.

Lipscomb fought back as they were able to load the bases in the second as Alysha Forsythe hit a grand slam home run to put the Bisons behind by one, 7-6.

UD came back after Lipscomb went up 9-7 as Cassie Gross singled to third. Tamsyne Kellough who was 2-for-4, followed with a single to third. Both Kellough and Gross advanced on a passed ball by the catcher. Christina Vetter then singled to center field to score Kellough and Gross to tie the game at nine.

Dayton came back in the sixth to score the go ahead run as St. Clair walked. Tami Roudebush was 2-for-4 on the day, and singled to send St. Clair to third. Lauren Schneider singled to left field to score St. Clair and Roudebush to put the Flyers up 11-10.

The Flyers move to 3-4 on the season and will face Middle Tennessee State Sunday at 1:00 PM.
