2008 Academic All-America® Women's Soccer Teams

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton senior midfielder Amanda Gallow was named a second team selection when the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Women's Soccer Teams were announced Tuesday.

Gallow is a pre-physical therapy major and carries a 3.95 GPA. She has been a member of the Dean's List every semester at UD and is a two-time selection to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.

"Amanda has made a significant impact on our success for four years," said UD head coach Mike Tucker. "She is a perfect example of what the term `student-athlete' signifies, as she has worked diligently to maintain the highest standards in both areas."

Gallow was a CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team pick this season after earning Second Team honors as a junior.

The West Chester, Ohio native was a team captain for the Flyers squad that advanced to the A-10 Championship for a record 13th consecutive season in 2008. She tallied three goals this year, all game-winners, and also dished out three assists. She finished her four-year career at Dayton with 69 games played, 11 goals and seven assists.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
