2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams Get Acrobat Reader

PHILADELPHIA - Six University of Dayton women's soccer players were named to the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer All-Conference Team in a vote conducted by the league's head coaches.

Juniors Mandi Bäck and Colleen Gibson repeated as First Team A-10 picks, and senior goalkeeper Deana Waintraub was also selected to the First Team for the Flyers. Sophomore Kelly Blumenschein and freshman Kathleen Beljan earned Second Team honors. In addition, Beljan was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team. Blumenschein and senior Amanda Gallow were named to the All-Academic team.

Bäck led the Flyers in scoring for the third consecutive season, putting up seven goals and 17 points in 2008. Gibson led UD in assists, dishing out eight in 16 games. Her .50 assists per game are 33rd best in the NCAA National Ranking Summary. Waintraub earned her first A-10 honors after posting a .86 goals against average and a 12-2-1 record.

Blumenschein picked up second team honors after being named to the All-Rookie team in 2007. Beljan, a defender, continues the UD tradition of having a Flyer named to the All-Rookie team. Gibson and Caitlin Proffitt were named to the All-Rookie team in 2006 and Stephanie Wurth was tabbed to the team in 2005. The Flyers have had a member on the team year since it was started by the A-10 in 2000.

Gallow, who repeats as a member of the A-10 all-conference team, and Blumenschein were named CoSIDA All-Academic all-District 4 by ESPN The Magazine Team this season.

The Flyers (14-5-1, 8-2-1 A-10) earned a first-round bye in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship hosted by Saint Louis University Nov. 6-9. Dayton plays its second round match Friday, Nov. 7.
