UD CONTINUES ATLANTIC 10 ROAD SWING AT XAVIER
The Dayton Flyer women's soccer team plays in just one match this week, facing Xavier on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. The Flyers take their undefeated Atlantic 10 record to Cincinnati for the second game of their four-game A-10 road swing. UD has a 7-3-1 overall mark, a 1-0-1 A-10 record and is currently tied for third in the conference standings. The Musketeers own a 1-7-1 overall record and are 11th in the conference standings with a 0-1-1 mark.

SERIES INFORMATION
• The Flyers own a 20-8-3 lead in the series against Xavier. Dayton has squared off against the Musketeers more than any other opponent. UD has won the last nine meetings, including a 4-0 win last year at Baujan Field on Sept. 21, 2007. The last time the Musketeers beat Dayton was a 1-0 tally in the A-10 Championship at Xavier University on Nov. 5, 2000.

FLYER NOTES
• The Flyers' only losses this season have come against nationally-ranked teams or teams receiving votes in national polls. UD lost 1-0 to then ranked No. 18 Illinois, then 3-1 to No. 11 Duke and 1-0 to Rutgers, which is consistently receiving votes in several polls. The combined record of the three teams that have defeated Dayton is 23-8-1.
• The Flyers lead the Atlantic 10 in shots (189), are tied for second in points (53) and assists (17) and tied for third in goals (18).
• Junior Mandi Bäck is second in the A-10 in shots, firing off 38 for 3.11 shots per game. She leads UD with five goals, and 12 points, and is tied for fifth in the A-10 in both categories. Sophomore Jerica DeWolf is seventh in the A-10 in shots with 26.
• Junior Colleen Gibson leads the A-10 in assists per game for the fifth consecutive week. She has five on the season for 0.71 per game.
• Five different players have scored game-winning goals for the Flyers, including sophomore Kelly Blumenschein who is tied for third in the A-10 in game-winning goals (2).
• Ten different players have scored goals for the Flyers this season and four different players have scored multiple goals. Nine players have dished out assists, with five players having multiple assists.
• Dayton is the only team to have two goalkeepers in the A-10's Top 10 for goals against average. Senior Deana Waintraub is sixth in the A-10 and boasts a 0.93 GAA, while sophomore Lisa Rodgers is ninth at 1.16 GAA.
• UD currently boasts the best home attendance average of any Atlantic 10 school. Dayton is averaging 715 fans a game at Baujan Field. The next closest is Saint Louis with 476 fans per home game. UD's game against Indiana (Aug. 22) drew 1,213 fans, the seventh best all-time attendance mark in Dayton women's soccer history.

SCOUTING XAVIER
• Xavier opened A-10 play with a 2-2 double overtime tie against Temple. The Musketeers fell 3-1 to Richmond the following Sunday. The Flyers shut out the Spiders 1-0 in their Atlantic 10 opener.
• Xavier's lone win came on the road against Ohio, a 2-0 victory, on Sept. 19.
• Freshman Jessica Brooks leads the Musketeers with four goals, including the game-winning score against the Bobcats. She is ninth in the A-10 in goals scored.
• Sophomore Kaitlyn McGoldrick leads Xavier with three assists, tied for ninth in the A-10.
• Junior goalkeeper Kelly Farrell is fifth in the A-10 in saves (44) and saves per game (4.89).

LOOKING AHEAD
The Flyers will play the second half of their four-game road swing when they play at Rhode Island on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. and then take on UMass on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m., both Atlantic 10 matches.

LAST WEEK RECAP
The University of Dayton started off Atlantic 10 play with a 1-0 shutout over Richmond. Junior Mandi Bäck scored the lone goal of the match, her fifth of the season, in the 53rd minute on the assist from fellow junior Lauren MacCormick. Dayton improved to 11-3-0 all-time in A-10 openers with the victory over the Spiders. The Flyers followed that win with a 1-1 double overtime tie against St. Joseph's. The Flyers remained undefeated in conference action, but missed several opportunities to put the Hawks away, outshooting SJU 31-12. Sophomore Jerica DeWolfe scored her second goal of the season -the lone goal of this match for the Flyers in the 25th minute. Junior Colleen Gibson dished out her team-leading fifth assist this season.

GALLOW RECOGNIZED
University of Dayton women's soccer player Amanda Gallow has been selected as a candidate for the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Gallow was one of 30 women's soccer players selected among hundreds of entrants for the Nation's Premier Award for NCAA Senior Student-Athletes. She qualified based on her dedication and achievement in four areas: Classroom, Character, Community, and Competition.

TERRIFIC TUCKER
Head Coach Mike Tucker's Flyer squads are 104-20-7 in A-10 play. He is the only active coach in the A-10 to achieve more than 100 women's soccer wins. UD has won seven of the 13 conference regular season titles. In addition, his teams have won the A-10 Tournament Championship five times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004).

GREAT GIBSON!
Junior midfielder Colleen Gibson was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Great Lakes Regional Third Team and First Team All-Ohio as a sophomore last season. She leads the Flyers with five assists this year. Her .71 assists per game is first in the Atlantic 10.

RAVE RANKINGS
UD is ranked ninth in the Great Lakes Region Poll. The Flyers are ranked 9th of 61 teams in the Great Lakes Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine.

FRESH FACES
The University of Dayton women's soccer team 2008 recruiting class was ranked 72nd nationally as announced by Soccer Buzz Magazine. The Flyer freshman class is second among Atlantic 10 schools and is among the nation's Top 100 for the fifth straight year. Freshmen Kelsey Miller has started every game on defense for the Flyers so far in the 2008 season. Emily Kenyon and Kathleen Beljan have started 10 games, while Kelsey Owen has started four and played in all 11 matches at midfielder. Midfielder Josie Grant has also seen action in five games.

KENYON FEATURED IN ESPN MAGAZINE
Freshman Emily Kenyon's acrobatic throw-in has given her some acclaim. A photograph of her flip throw-in is featured in the ZOOM section of ESPN The Magazine. The photograph was taken at the Dayton vs. Rutgers game on Sept. 14 at Baujan Field.

FLYER SUCCESS
Dayton women's soccer program owns an overall record of 316-143-33 since it became a varsity program in 1984. Dayton has won A-10 Tournament Championship five times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004), and made NCAA Tournament Appearances in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
