DAYTON WOMEN'S SOCCER ADDS THREE COMMITMENTS
Feb. 7, 2007 DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton women's soccer head coach Mike Tucker announced the commitments of three high school prospects on Wednesday. Kelly Blumenschein (Beavercreek, Ohio), Jerica DeWolfe (Bethesda, Md.) and Tori Oelschlager (Glendale, Ariz.) signed with UD today and will join the Flyer roster in 2007. "This is always one of the most exciting times of the year, as we officially welcome our newest UD Flyers," Tucker said. "With only one senior (Jaime Monahan) graduating this year we have basically the entire team returning. The addition of two current freshmen, medical red-shirt Cara Cornacchia and fellow Canadian Lauren Maybury will add to our depth and competitiveness in the fall." The Dayton Flyers return all 11 starters from the 2006 team, which went 8-6-3 overall and 6-3-0 in the Atlantic 10. "Signing their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday are three outstanding student-athletes. Coming from various regions of the country, each bring multi-dimensional talents to the Flyers. Besides their obvious soccer talents, these three young ladies also possess great character and are terrific students. They will help to continue the rich tradition of Flyer soccer excellence."

Kelly can play anywhere in the attack and is excellent at both creating quality scoring chances for her teammates and going to goal herself. She is skillful, quick, athletic, and has a wonderful sense of the game." High School Accolades - 2006 Adidas/NSCAA All-American ... 1st team All-State in 2006, 1st team All-Conference and All-Area in '05 and '06 ... named 2005 and 2006 Greater Western Conference Player of the Year led high-school 18-1-2 record and regional finals in 2006 ... holds record at her high school for most career wins at 67 ... Ohio-South Olympic Development Program State Team 2001-2005.
Jerica DeWolfe Coach Tucker on Jerica DeWolfe - "While primarily a defender in club play, Jerica is also a dangerous attacker as evidenced by her senior high school season. She is strong and athletic with very good speed and has played at an excellent competitive level. Her versatility will enable her to contribute in a number of roles. Expect Jerica to develop into an attacking threat very early." High School Accolades - Tallied 63 goals and 60 assists as a four-year starter and two-year captain at St. John's College High school ...named First Team All-Conference and First Team Washington Post All-Metro in 2005 and 2006... helped high school achieve its first winning-season in the program's history as a freshman in 2003...club team was Maryland State Cup Champions in 2005 and 2006...Maryland ODP State team 2002-2006...also considered Pittsburg, Boston University, Towson and Alabama-Birmingham.

A strong tackler and ball winner, Tori also does a good job of keeping possession. She has good vision, is skillful, strong and athletic. As she adapts to the collegiate game, Tori should also develop into a strong attacking presence." High School Accolades - First Team All-Region from 2004-2007...named 5A Division I Athlete of the Month in February 2006...2004 5A Division I All-Academic team...participated on the Arizona State Team from 2001-2003, played on the Mixed States Team in 2004. |
