Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Dayton women's soccer team dropped its Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season finale to Fordham University, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Jack Coffey Field in Bronx, N.Y. Allowing the Rams to score on two of their three shots in the match, the Flyers (9-5-3, 5-3-1) will have to wait for next weekend's action to determine their postseason fate.

UD got on the board first in the 30th minute, benefiting from a defensive miscue by Fordham (8-8-0, 2-5-0). UD freshman Kim Sacher sent a crossing pass into the box from the flank and a Fordham defender tried to head it away, but misdirected into the net past goalkeeper Julie Wynns.

In the second half, Fordham drew even at the 62:07 mark on the ninth goal of the season from Haley Lentsch. Katie Sanchez played a pass to Lentsch on a breakaway and she beat UD goalkeeper Niki Reed from 15 yards out.

The Rams would get the go-ahead goal just 11 minutes later as the same tandem hooked up again. But this time it was Sanchez scoring and Lentsch assisting on what would stand to be the game-winning tally.

The visiting Flyers owned a 7-3 advantage in shots, forcing Wynns to make two saves in 67 minutes of action. Alli Cacciotti played the final 23 minutes in goal for the Rams and was credited with the win. UD goalkeeper Niki Reed did not make a save. The two goals is the most allowed by the Flyers this season since a 2-2 tie with No. 5 Virginia on Sept. 11. The Rams victory is their first in nine tries over the Flyers.

UD will end its regular season at the University of Texas next Friday at 8 p.m. ET (Live audio and stats will be available). Although the Flyers are not in conference action next weekend, all but two A-10 schools (UD and Xavier) will play league games. UD, which sits in fourth place currently, has not yet clinched a spot in the A-10 Championship and will have to wait for next weekend's results. The top six teams in the A-10 will qualify for the Championship, to be hosted by the Flyers at Baujan Field Nov. 3-6.
