Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - With three goals from three different players and three points from senior Reba Sedlacek, the University of Dayton women's soccer team defeated La Salle University, 3-1, at McCarthy Stadium Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia. The Flyers (8-3-2, 4-1-0) scored twice in the second half and outshot the Explorers 17-8 in winning their third consecutive match.

Sedlacek struck for her second goal in as many games, putting UD on the board first in the 34th minute. She took a crossing pass from senior Alicija Bredlo at the top of the box, made two moves to shake the La Salle defense, spun and ripped a shot at goalkeeper Amy Grant. Grant got a piece of it, but the ball deflected off her hands and then in off the post for Sedlacek's team-leading sixth goal this season.

UD made it 2-0 just less than five minutes into the second half on senior Katie Lowstuter's second goal of the season. Lowstuter stole a ball from the Explorers' defense and beat Grant with an unassisted tally in the 50th minute.

Sophomore Dara Elk added an insurance goal for the Flyers in the 59th minute as she buried a crossing pass from Sedlacek for her second goal of the year.

La Salle (3-8-2, 0-2-1) spolied what would have been UD's sixth shutout this season with a goal from Dana Giordano in the 85th minute.

In the physical contest, a total of 33 fouls were called (18 against Dayton) and three La Salle players were booked with yellow cards. LU leads the A-10 with 21 cautions this season.

Sophomore UD goalkeeper Niki Reed made a save in 77 minutes of action and was replaced by senior goalkeeper Amanda Kuntz, who made two saves, for the remainder of the contest. Grant made four saves for La Salle.

UD outshot LU 17-8, paced by the game-high five shots from Sedlacek.

The Flyers return to Baujan Field for their final home weekend of the regular season next weekend. UD will play host to Richmond on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Charlotte on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day.
