WASHINGTON, D.C. - The University of Dayton women's soccer team got a goal from senior Reba Sedacek and a shutout from sophomore goalkeeper Niki Reed in a 1-0 win over George Washington University Friday afternoon in our nation's capital. The victory improved the Flyers to 7-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Atlantic 10.

Sedlacek struck for her fifth goal of the season and third game-winner with an assist from sophomore Kristen Persichini in the 30th minute. The forward took a pass up the middle of the field and beat GW goalkeeper Ana Handzlik on a breakaway.

The UD defense would hold off the Colonials (4-6-0, 1-1-0) in a driving rain storm and post their fifth shutout of the season. Reed made two saves in the winning effort.

The Flyers owned a 9-3 edge in shots, forcing Handzlik to make three stops.

Dayton returns to action Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match at La Salle. Live audio will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.
