A much-honored and highly-touted prep star, Sarah West did not disappoint in her first year as a Flyer goalkeeper. She immediately challeneged and earned a wealth of starting time in net, picking up right where former goalkeeper Stephanie Weisenfeld left off. Very athletic with great hands, West posted miniscule numbers very similar to Weisenfeld (UD's all-time leader in goals against average).

Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team...Third Team All-Ohio...Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team...Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team...posted the second-lowest single-season GAA's in team history at 0.78...led the A-10 in GAA...0.58 GAA against A-10 opponents was also a league best...first complete match came in the 1-1, double-overtime tie against No. 6 Virginia (career-high 110 minutes)...made a career-high eight saves twice (Virginia, Ohio State)...twice named A-10 Rookie of the Week...made three saves to shutout Massachusetts 1-0...made six saves to blank George Washington 1-0 five days later...made nine saves combined in the A-10 Championship as the Flyers won both matches by shutout for the second time in school history (1999)...made five big saves while playing the second half as UD blanked Marquette, 2-0, to win the Milwaukee Cup...Milwuakee Cup All-Tournament team...battled through an injury that forced her to miss some action midway through the season...with the exception of three goals allowed to both St. Mary's and Ohio State, did not allow more than one goal in any match.

Slashed her prep goals against average in each year from a 1.00 as a frosh to a career-best 0.56 as a senior...broke the school's career record for shutouts with 50...career 0.74 GAA..was a three-time All-Illinios High School selection...four-year pick on the West Suburban All-Conference Team...was also a back-to-back First Team Chicago Tribune All-State Team selection.
