Amy Berbary enters her fourth season on the experienced University of Dayton staff collaborating alongside thirteenth-year head coach Mike Tucker and second season assistant coach Sergio Gonzalez. Berbary has helped the Flyers continue to be one of the Atlantic 10's premier teams with her wealth of soccer knowledge and impressive organizational skills. In addition to her on-field coaching, Berbary assists coach Tucker in coordinating recruiting, and serves as the compliance and academics liaison for the team. Berbary joined the Flyers' staff for the 2004 season after a standout playing career at the University of Georgia. Playing in the SEC against the likes of future USA players Abby Wambach, Heather Mitts and Danielle Fotopoulus, Berbary finished her career third on Georgia's all-time goal scoring list (26) and points (58). In 1999, she became the fourth UGA player to record a hat trick with three goals in a game. The forward helped guide the Bulldogs to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 1998 and the Second Round in 2001. Berbary graduated from UGA with a degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Education. Following her collegiate playing days, Berbary spent two years as the head coach at Gainesville High School in Gainesville, GA. While at GHS, her teams finished 14-4-1 and 13-5-1, respectively - including a 19-0-0 regional record in two years. Berbary was named the Region 7AAA Coach of the Year twice while leading her team to two regional championships. In addition, she was named the 2004 Women's Soccer Coach of the Year by the Gainesville Times. Originally from Alpharetta, GA, Berbary has also served as the assistant varsity coach at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, GA. She is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and holds a USSF "C" License. She has also severed as a Ohio South ODP State Staff coach for the past 3 years. |
