The Flyers participated in their first race as an entire team this past weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee. Due to windy conditions, though, varsity eight boat events were cancelled. Novice eights and varsity fours proceeded to compete in their respective races.

The novice 8's finished 7th, 8th, and 12th out of 14. The coaches felt that the rowers performed well and were proud of their progress after only seven short weeks of rowing experience.

The Varsity 4's finished 5th and 6th out of 19 behind 4 strong UT Lady Vols boats. UT has an extremely strong rowing program who made NCAA's last year.

"All in all I'm pleased with how the team performed. I'm disappointed the wind picked up causing the cancellation of the Varsity 8's since that is the marquee race," said Head Coach Mike Farrey.

The Flyers next event will be a duel against the Ohio State club team November 11th. They will race as the host team competing at the Dayton Boat Club boat house in West Carrollton.
