After a tryout period, head coach Derek Copeland announced that 18 student-athletes that have been named to the 2009-10 University of Dayton Flyers novice team. The team is primarily comprised of freshman with 18 rowers.

"We were very impressed with the group of athletes that completed tryouts this year," Copeland said. "We are excited about their potential. The coaching staff believes this is a very strong group."

The Flyers' first regatta of the season will take place at the West Virginia Fall Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Morgantown, W Va.
