The Dayton Flyers look to slice their racing times across in a four-team meet that includes the Cincinnati Bearcats, Eastern Michigan Eagles and Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday.

In the Flyers' last meet, the Varsity 8 and Lightweight 8 continued their winning ways. Against the Duquesne Dukes, the Varsity 8 rowed a time of 5:51.5 defeating the Duquesne team by more than 23 seconds.

Meanwhile, the UD Lightweight 8 first lineup looked strong in their opener rowing a time of 6:14.7 to Duquesne's 6:38.9. The second lineup for the Flyers did not win their match after rowing a time of 6:09.8 to Duquesne's 6:07.0.

Dayton's Lightweight 8 is one of the groups that have continued to succeed year-after-year.

In 2006 the Lightweight 8 finished eighth in the nation in the U.S. Rowing Coaches Poll and at the IRA National Championships.

While the Lightweight 8 also defended its Atlantic 10 Championship last year, the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 made strong improvements as well medaling in events last spring.

This will be the second of seven spring events for the Flyers.
